Description

Consists of two segments:

Segment 1 – Evidence-based Practice and Intentionality in Youth Work

This course aims to equip you with the ability to design a youth programme.

Intervention Design:

• Selecting intervention goals from theoretical framework (ACT SG, Lerner’s 5Cs, 40DA)
• Use of incidental learning versus structured group work
• Translating research to logic model and session planning
• Opportunity to experience 2 types of session plans (Intentional versus Unintentional design)

Debrief on how intentionality/EBP improves potential impact

Segment 2 – Role conflicts and Ethical Dilemmas in Youth Work

This course highlights the need to appreciate and manage the kind of ethical dilemmas youth workers often find themselves in.

Ethical Principle Screen

• Understand hierarchy on the Ethical Principle Screen

Role/Function of youth worker

• Justice versus Care Orientation
• Enforcing law versus Improving client functioning
• Interplay of personal, organizational, and societal stances

Case Discussions:

• Practice Use of Ethical Principle Screen
• Gain insights into different perspectives that could be taken by various stakeholders in the same case
