These are private online sessions open only to eligible applicants, and by appointment only. Volunteer lawyers will provide free legal advice. Clinics are held on the last Tuesday of every month starting at 7 pm, except in December.
Clinics are only open to are only open to the following:
- Youths accompanied by at least one parent or youth work practitioners who are YWAS members. Youths are defined as those 20 years of age and below.
- Youth work practitioners who are YWAS members
- Member organisations of YWAS, represented by Team Leads, Managers, or Directors
Areas of Support
Legal advice will only be given on personal issues and will not be given for business issues. Legal advice will generally focus on the following areas:
- Youth Crime
- Family/Partner Violence
- Marriage and Divorce
- Child Protection
- Child Issues (custody, care and control, access)
- Wills and Probate
- Consumer Contracts
- Violence, Harassment, or Bullying, by others
- Child/Spousal Maintenance
The legal advice that is given by the volunteer lawyers is based on the information provided by applicants. It is the responsibility of applicants to provide full and accurate information, and volunteer lawyers will not be liable for advice given based on incomplete or inaccurate information. Legal advice does not amount to legal representation. The volunteer lawyers who provide the legal advice make no commitment to represent the applicant in Court, and are not permitted to take on representation of any applicants for a fee.
Clinic Schedule for 2023
All clinics are via Zoom. Each session is for a maximum of 20 minutes, and sessions will be scheduled starting from 7 pm and ending at 9 pm.
Online application submission is not confirmation of your consultation with lawyers. Please await a confirmation email, which will be sent to you once your consultation with lawyers has been scheduled.
Note: If you are applying as a youth, please ensure that the form is completed by one of your parent or your youth worker. You need to be present during the clinic session.
